Garden Bell Pepper Varieties: Vegetable Bell Pepper Seeds
Bell peppers come in a rainbow of colors. Whereas all green bell peppers will turn red as they ripen there is incredible variety in color in bell peppers. There’s red (Blushing beauty), orange (Horizon Orange), yellow (Golden California Wonder), green (Big Bertha), purple (Purple Beauty) and even brown (Chocolate Beauty) the last two being rather rare bell pepper garden seeds.
Bell Peppers should be started from seed indoors in sprouting trays 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date. The bell pepper seedlings should be transplanted into larger pots when they are four inches in height. Raising the soil temperature to 80 degrees with a seedling warmer will aid in seed germination. Before planting outdoors in your garden, harden off the seedlings by placing them outside in increasing intervals for a week or two. Wait until the soil temperature warms and the risk of frost has past to plant them. It goes without saying that bell peppers like it hot but they also like their soil to be moist so it’s a good idea to water regularly when temperatures rise and mulch around them to help retain the moisture.
If you want to collect bell pepper garden seeds to save, you will need to isolate hot and sweet varieties of pepper. Although peppers are self-pollinated they can be cross pollinated by bees which won’t affect the harvest this year but will manifest in future plants.

Gardening Tips
Many factors can affect the germination and growth of your garden or flower seeds. Try some of these suggestions to improve your seeds' chance of success:- Sometimes some seeds should soak in water for 4-6 hours before planting seeds in ground.
- Store seeds in cool dry location to prevent seeds germinating prematurely.
- Water freshly planted seeds or newly transplanted plants heavily.
- Use mulch around base of developing plants to prevent weeds.
- Compost your grasses, leaves etc before trying to grow vegetables or flowers that need rich soil.
