Planting:Carnations are hearty and can be direct sown or started indoors for later transplant. Sow seeds at 1/4" deep in a full sun area. Flowers will continue to bloom through entire season.
Germination: Seeds usually take 14 to 21 days to sprout.
Transplant:When danger of frost is over, transplant to garden as close as 12" apart.
Soil and Light:Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Carnations do best in soil that is well drained as too much water will cause discoloration.

Gardening Tips
Many factors can affect the germination and growth of your garden or flower seeds. Try some of these suggestions to improve your seeds' chance of success:- Sometimes some seeds should soak in water for 4-6 hours before planting seeds in ground.
- Store seeds in cool dry location to prevent seeds germinating prematurely.
- Water freshly planted seeds or newly transplanted plants heavily.
- Use mulch around base of developing plants to prevent weeds.
- Compost your grasses, leaves etc before trying to grow vegetables or flowers that need rich soil.
