The Royal Chantenay carrot is a very broad and hearty carrot. The roots are blocky and grow up to 6" long. The carrot holds it's delicious texture and flavor even when the roots are large.

Planting instructions:Plant Royal Chantenay carrots in early spring in a sunny location with light or loose soil that is enriched with organic material. Sow seeds sparingly and press soil firmly over seeds. In areas with mild winters, fall planting is recommended.
Care: Keep free of weeds and regularly water lightly.
Harvesting: Pull Royal Chantenay carrots as they reach desired size. Smaller plants can be harvested as part of the thinning process.
Nutritional Value: A excellent source of Iron, Calcium, and Vitamins: A, B1, B2, C, and Niacin.
Collecting Seed:Biennial plant that produces a seed stalk the second year. Selected roots need to be kept cool and moist. Protect first year Royal Chantenay root from winter freezing by burying in sand or leaving it in ground covered with heavy mulch. Seed heads form after summer growth. When seeds have matured and partially dried on the seed stalk, gather the seed before it falls to the ground.

Gardening Tips
Many factors can affect the germination and growth of your garden or flower seeds. Try some of these suggestions to improve your seeds' chance of success:- Sometimes some seeds should soak in water for 4-6 hours before planting seeds in ground.
- Store seeds in cool dry location to prevent seeds germinating prematurely.
- Water freshly planted seeds or newly transplanted plants heavily.
- Use mulch around base of developing plants to prevent weeds.
- Compost your grasses, leaves etc before trying to grow vegetables or flowers that need rich soil.
